Compass Cosmetics

Quick Start: Monetize your server.

Compass cosmetics change how your compass looks and sounds. Only one shows at a time, following what the compass is doing right now: a fresh scan beats the idle look, analysis clicks beat both, and a bad signal plays its own sound.

Refresh (8)

A needle made of particles, drawn from your chest along the direction your compass is currently pointing:

  • If your compass reading is off (signal interference bends it), the needle bends with it. The needle also tilts up or down toward the target's height, up to 30 degrees either way.
  • Scans that fail (target too close or too far) draw nothing at all; a bad signal draws a small filled ball of the particle instead.
  • Needle settings: particle (always needed), color (optional hex), length (1 to 16 blocks), amount (points along the line, 1 to 64, 5 if left out), plus the tracing settings tracing, offset, and scale (the tracing only replaces the bad-signal ball, never the line).
  • Red Needle and Bubble Line are the common ones, up to the MYTHIC Dragon Line.

In hand (8)

Quiet particles while you hold the compass between scans: Water Droplets, Warm Hearts, Spore Puffs, Hand Flames, and up to the MYTHIC Ominous Omen.

In-hand settings: particle (always needed), color (optional hex), interval-seconds (0.1 to 60), amount (1 to 64, 5 if left out), plus the tracing settings tracing, offset, scale, spin, move-y, and move-time.

Analysis (6)

A burst of particles filling a small ball on every analysis click while a scan breaks down a reading:

  • An optional short sound plays once when the scan starts (MYTHICs only, by convention). Big, satisfying particles work best here: Soft Puff, Cloud Burst, Heart Burst, Totem Burst, up to the MYTHIC Dragon Roar.
  • Analysis settings: particle (always needed), color (optional hex), amount (1 to 64, 5 if left out), sound (optional start sound), plus the tracing settings tracing, offset, and scale (a tracing turns the burst from a 3D ball into a 2D drawing).

Bad signal (8)

A personal sound when you trigger a scan that comes back with no signal (automatic background scans stay silent): Cat's Lament, Wolf Whine, Skeleton Rattle, Zombie Moan, and up to the MYTHIC Dragon Flap.

Bad-signal settings: just sound (the sound's namespaced name, like minecraft:entity.cat.death).
