Quick Start: Lobby Overrides (5 minutes)

Quick Start: Run your first match.

One lobby per game mode: each step below pins different settings and mods to its lobby, plus a fancy switcher name.

  • You need the ADVANCED lobby world preset (or your own multi-lobby setup), with three lobbies that each have a teleport set. Uses the bundled modifiers and presets only.
  • Matches read their lobby's overrides first and fall back to the shared config, so lobbies you never touch keep behaving exactly as before.
  • Fancy names live in the lang file, one lobby.lobbies entry per lobby id (formatting codes allowed; missing ids show Lobby N), the same way playlist names do. Edit your server language file (plugins/JManhunt/lang/en-us.yml by default). Everything else runs through /manhunt override <lobby> ..., or the lobby overrides screen in the admin GUI.

0. Classic Manhunt (lobby 0)

The baseline: no overrides at all, just a name.

lobby:
  lobbies:
    "0":
      name: "<#ff5555>Classic Manhunt"

Check it with /manhunt prefs switch 0: the switcher should spell the name right.

1. Vanilla+ (lobby 1)

Close to vanilla, plus the gentle buffs from the Vanilla+ preset (everyone-gets-beef, regen-on-kill, fireres-on-nether-enter) and a longer autostart countdown. Presets switch on globally, so turn on the preset's mods for this lobby only:

/manhunt override 1 modifiers set everyone-gets-beef true
/manhunt override 1 modifiers set regen-on-kill true
/manhunt override 1 modifiers set fireres-on-nether-enter true
/manhunt override 1 settings set settings.match.start.autostart.timing.countdown-seconds 60
lobby:
  lobbies:
    "1":
      name: "<#55ff55>Vanilla+"

(/manhunt modifiers lists every mod name. Tune one mod value to taste with /manhunt override 1 values <mod> <path> <value>.)

2. Infection Mode (lobby 2)

The Chaos preset (infection, random-item-giver, gear-dice), fragile runners, and patient hunters:

/manhunt override 2 modifiers set infection true
/manhunt override 2 modifiers set random-item-giver true
/manhunt override 2 modifiers set gear-dice true
/manhunt override 2 settings set settings.match.start.start-on-speedrunner-damage.delay-seconds 60
/manhunt override 2 settings set settings.players.respawn.speedrunner.lives 1
lobby:
  lobbies:
    "2":
      name: "<#31b3eb>🎅 Winter <#d8e5eb>Manhunt"

(Call it <#aaffaa>Infection once winter passes; the point is that emoji, hex colors, and gradients all work.)

Santa kill lines: while the snow lasts, give lobby 2 its own self-kill lines in the message overrides block of your server language file (plugins/JManhunt/lang/en-us.yml by default):

overrides:
  "2":
    game:
      kill:
        self-lines:
        - "<#d42426>ho ho ho'd</#d42426> off the rooftop"
        - "got tangled in the <#2a7f3f>christmas lights</#2a7f3f>"

Run /manhunt reload: matches from lobby 2 roll the santa lines, every other lobby keeps the base pool. Delete the "2" block (or the whole file section) in January to go back to normal.

Check your work

  • /manhunt override <lobby> settings get (and modifiers get, values get) prints one lobby's overrides.
  • /manhunt override <lobby> clear wipes a lobby back to the shared config; ... settings clear <key> removes one value.
  • Start a match per lobby and confirm each plays by its own rules; the switcher (the empty map in the toolbar) shows all three names in order.

To rotate several override sets through one queue instead, see Rotating Lobbies in 8 Minutes.
