LuckPerms

Quick Start: Connect your other plugins.

Install LuckPerms and two things light up:

  • Each player's prefix and suffix render on the match name display automatically, so you can read who the opposing player is at a glance.
  • JManhunt exposes a jmh-role context carrying the player's live role: none, afk, spectator, speedrunner, or hunter. Unassigned and offline players read as none; there is no null value. The context refreshes on every role change without relog.

Use it in any context-aware command, for example (schematic):

/lp user <name> permission set some.perk true jmh-role=hunter

Role weights

Standard queues assign sides by weight: each player's jmh-role-weight meta pulls toward their Role Preference (toolbar Settings, EMERALD button, or /manhunt prefs bias; default RUNNER). Premium only, with a master switch at settings.players.identity.roles.role-weights (default on): turning it off assigns uniform everywhere, hides the preference button, and refuses the prefs command. Turn it off if paid weights could read as a gameplay advantage under the Minecraft EULA on your server.

  • Missing or blank meta reads 1.0. Junk, negatives, NaN, and infinities warn once in the console and read 1.0.
  • 0 is allowed: a zero-weight player loses every contention but is still assigned a side. All-zero queues assign uniform.
  • Parties never split: a party leans with its weight majority (ties flip at random) and pulls with its summed weight.
  • The bias menu shows the live 1v1 avg chance against a default opponent (2.0 reads 66%).
  • Ranked queues ignore weights and bias entirely. Tournaments ignore them too unless the playlist sets tournament.respect-role-weights, and then only for first matches (round 0 in brackets, the starting fixture in round-robin). Later matches alternate or re-seed uniform.

Sell it: put jmh-role-weight 3.0 on the paid rank for a 75% 1v1 runner chance against default opponents. Walkthrough: Sell role odds.

Quick Start: Role Suffixes (5 minutes)

Show a colored [RUNNER] or [HUNTER] tag after names in chat:

  1. Install a LuckPerms-compatible chat plugin so suffixes actually render. LPC Chat works and supports MiniMessage. Without one, the suffixes below exist in LuckPerms data but never display.
  2. Add the speedrunner suffix (note the leading space: suffixes always look like " [suffix]" so they never butt against the name):
/lp group default meta setsuffix 100 " <gray>[<#74de66>RUNNER</#74de66>]" jmh-role=speedrunner
  1. Add the hunter suffix:
/lp group default meta setsuffix 100 " <gray>[<#de666e>HUNTER</#de666e>]" jmh-role=hunter

That is it: the jmh-role context swaps the suffix automatically as roles change.

To avoid doubling up with the built-in team colors, turn them off (optional):

settings:
  players:
    identity:
      name-colors:
        enabled: false

The built-in colors (red hunters, green speedrunners, yellow AFK, gray spectators) only recolor the name itself; LuckPerms prefixes and suffixes apply on top untouched. They stay on by default; see Role Roster.

Without LuckPerms installed the context is unavailable and the plugin logs a single line at startup. Nothing else changes.
