Quick Match

Quick Start: Run your first match.

Quick Match is the playlist queue behind the toolbar's browser button (hidden while both quick match and ranked are off):

  • The root panel lists the Standard and Ranked categories with configurable icons (advanced/playlists.yml, browser section).
  • Each category panel starts with a fixed Any entry, then one button per playlist with the live N playing | N queued counts in the lore hover. The ranked panel ends with your season standing card (Season {season}: {rank} {elo}, Unranked during placement, --- while unknown).
  • Click a playlist to queue for it; click Any to queue for the best fit of the category. A category holding exactly one playlist joins it directly.
  • A category with no playlists answers the click with a warning instead of a bare panel: lobbies serve one side only, so a category defined elsewhere says it is not offered in this lobby (see lobby-mode), and only a category defined nowhere asks you to contact an administrator.
  • Open the browser from the toolbar or with /manhunt prefs quickmatch. /manhunt prefs quickmatch join queues standard Any and cancel leaves the queue.

While you wait

  • The actionbar shows your queue time, and once you land in a match it appends the playlist with its headcount (Standard 2v2 (3/4)) plus the double-shift hint. While the match counts down to start, the line switches to Starting in {time}.
  • A specific playlist first tries your lobby's closest non-empty queue, then other lobbies (you never leave yours), then opens a queue in your lobby.
  • Any-mode tries your lobby, opens a fresh queue after 20 seconds, then considers other lobbies after a minute, moving you only to closer matches. Queues time out after 10 minutes.

Leaving

  • Double-shift (two quick sneaks) steps out of the match but keeps searching: specific queues search every lobby once, Any-mode keeps its regular search without reopening. Double-shift again while searching to leave entirely.
  • Walking onto a role pad, admin role changes, and going AFK or spectator cancel the queue too.
  • Double-shift never exits a queue entered through a pad: step off the pad instead (see below).

Who can queue

Roles NONE, AFK, and SPECTATOR (while not spectating a live match) may queue; anything else hears the angry sound with the reason, as do players who are already queued. Parties stay together on one side; for now every party holds one player.

Pads

  • With use-pads on, standing on a playlist's block queues you for it, and stepping off with exit-clears-role leaves queues entered through that pad.
  • White concrete queues standard Any and orange concrete queues ranked Any; each works where the lobby mode offers its category.
  • Pad standers see queue joins, leaves, and autostart in chat, with ranked names obfuscated.

Ranked

  • Ranked queues gate non-empty matches on elo: your average must land near the match average, and the window widens the longer you wait.
  • New seasons start everyone at 300; placement mode hides the number as Unranked for the first 3 games, then ranks run Copper to Netherite by elo.
  • Decided matches move every member against the opposing average with size and skill-gap shaping, and draws split the point. Seasons last 90 days; rollover archives every rating into history. See Playlists.
