Quick Start: Creeper Wings (10 minutes)

Quick Start: Monetize your server.

Ten minutes from a blank canvas to green creeper-face wings in the lobby. The same steps make any custom drawing: the PNG supplies the shape, the leaf supplies the particles.

You need a pixel-art editor (Aseprite, LibreSprite, and Piskel all work) or even MS Paint on a white canvas, plus console or file access to the server.

1. Draw the face

  • Create a 64 by 64 pixel image with a transparent background, or plain white if your editor cannot do transparency (MS Paint works this way).
  • Paint the creeper face in any solid color (black is easiest to see): two square eyes and the classic mouth. The drawing colors never reach the game, only the pixel positions do, so pick whatever you like.

Three rules keep the drawing clean:

  • Background is anything transparent plus anything white at any opacity: fully transparent pixels, solid white, and semi-transparent white all stay out of the drawing. Only non-white visible pixels become particles.
  • Draw at 64 by 64 (or smaller). The engine samples pixel-perfect up to 64 on the longest side, so a 64 canvas needs no quantization step. Bigger drawings shrink to a 64 grid, which softens sharp corners.
  • Leave a small margin. The drawing centers itself, and pixels touching the edge can clip against the wing frame.

Save it as creeper-wings.png.

2. Drop it in the tracings folder

Copy the file to the server at

plugins/JManhunt/advanced/cosmetics-tracings/lobby/wings/creeper-wings.png

creating folders as needed.

  • The drawing id is that path without .png: lobby/wings/creeper-wings. Any id works in any tracing slot, but lobby/wings/ keeps wings drawings together.

3. Add the leaf

Open plugins/JManhunt/advanced/cosmetics.yml, find cosmetics: at the bottom, and add a leaf under lobby:, wings::

cosmetics:
  lobby:
    wings:
      creeper-wings:
        enabled: true
        meta:
          icon: "CREEPER_HEAD"
          rarity: "rare"
        params:
          particle: "DUST"
          color: "33CC33"
          scale: "1.2"
          interval-seconds: "0.3"
          amount: "10"
          tracing: "lobby/wings/creeper-wings"
  • scale sizes the wings (0.5 to 3), amount is how many face points each puff draws, and tracing points at your PNG.
  • Ten points every 0.3 seconds keeps a face readable; thin line drawings can drop to 5.

4. Reload and read the console

Run /manhunt reload. A typo in the id, a missing file, or an unreadable PNG warns here and disables the look, while the rest of the file keeps working. No warning means the drawing loaded.

5. Equip it

  • Open /manhunt cosmetics: Creeper Wings sits in Lobby, Wings, with the prettified leaf name (add a name: and desc: under cosmetics.names.lobby.wings.creeper-wings in your language file to override it, as in Creating Your Own).
  • The wings stand upright behind you at upper-torso height, facing your direction.

If the look is locked, grant and unlock it:

lp user <you> permission set jmanhunt.cosmetics.lobby.wings.creeper-wings true
/manhunt cosmetics unlock lobby.wings.creeper-wings

6. Tune it

Stand still, watch two or three puffs, then tweak one setting at a time and /manhunt reload between tries:

  • Too small or big: scale between 0.5 and 3.
  • Sits wrong: offset: "0, 0.2, 0" nudges it (x right, y up, z backwards, turning with you).
  • Face too sparse: raise amount toward 20. Past the drawing's own pixel count the extra points just redraw the whole face, so there is no penalty for overshooting.
  • Flickers too fast or slow: interval-seconds between 0.1 and 60.

When something looks off

Symptom Cause and fix
No wings, console warning The id, path, or PNG is wrong. Ids are lowercase lobby/wings/creeper-wings, and the file must exist before reload.
A shapeless green blob Stray non-white pixels sneaked in, usually anti-aliased gray fringe around your lines. Turn anti-aliasing off, or flood-fill the background pure white.
Face sideways or mirrored Wings face your direction and flip as you turn. Faces read best drawn front-on and symmetric.
Wings inside your body Nudge out with offset (try "0, 0, 0.3") or shrink scale.

From here, the tracings reference lists every slot a drawing fits (floors, auras, trails, compass hands) and the shared offset, scale, spin, and move settings, and Creating Your Own covers rarity, drops, and rank grants for the finished look.
